Photographs are most often admired for their ability to connect
the viewer to a reality or range of emotions that are evoked by the
photographic imagery. In order to serve this function photographs
rely on context, and are often supplemented with textual information
or descriptions. What is privileged in this case is the intermediary
quality of the photograph, as it becomes a transparent gateway to an
idea or emotion greater than itself. This instillation aims to
challenge that photographic experience by allowing the photos to
constitute their own reality, rather than using them as visual
approximations of the physical world. By giving primacy to the
photos as objects (versus them acting as signs) the individual
photos become tools employed to create the artwork, much like
brush-strokes on a painting.

The installation consists of objects built out of cardboard,
covered with 4×6″ photographs. The cardboard objects were built
first (they are essentially life-size). All of the photographs
were then taken and printed at Rite Aid, on 4×6″ glossy photo paper.
The 1,700 photographs were then glued to the cardboard objects to
create the final photo-sculptures. There are no real objects included
in the instillation, everything shown is photo-sculpture.

Real Quick, For Fun is a four-day pop-up event by PJ Monte and Sean Kinney starting Thursday, February 10th and continuing through Monday the 14th. During the four days Real Quick, For Fun will host art, fashion, food, and music. The space located at 376 Broome Street will showcase the efforts of a small network of friends organized from a street level. As defined by the title, the intention is to capture a feeling of spontaneity and unrestraint with irreverence to the oftentimes high-strung and rigid feel of art and fashion world events.

I was at Salvation Army the other day with Mike No Chelnis and I got my hands on a few American Flag posters that i got for $1 for 3 of them. I hung one on a blank wall at my crib, and decided to shoot my friends and other characters who venture in and out of here in front of it and start a little project with the collection of pictures. We stepped out of the city for the weekend and hit the country house.

We visited a friend, we call him Medicine Bob, who lives near the country house. Now, Bob has an interesting collection of animals on his property. Everything from horses, camels, bison, a baboon, pigs, owls, alligators, emus, about 10 dogs, and tons of rare poisonous snakes and spiders. Yeah, NORMAL, i know….

This is Bob’s Baboon, Mr. Higgins. Believe it or not, Mr Higgins is extremely fast and powerful, he also loves Genna. Like A LOT.

Bob makes all his own medicines in his lab.

This is what Bob feeds his 100+ lbs snakes: frozen rats.

And this is a portrait I snapped of Bob, himself. The injury to his hand was caused by Mr Higgins. When Bob tried to take his orange away, he bit him right through the tendon. He almost lost his finger.

Redefining the term “Kids do the darnedest things.” He must have written this book above or at least got editor credits cause I don’t think I’ve heard anything more awesome in a long time. This 4 year old wanted to be arrested so he could see his dad, in prison. You cant blame a kid for trying. He’s obviously on the right path, getting drunk, breaking and entering, and cross dressing. That sounds like a night for the memory books if you ask me. This kid is gonna have the coolest story at show and tell on Monday. He’s gonna get all the ladies at finger painting because everyone knows girls love a bad boy.

This kid is clearly didn’t read the book written by our friend in the video. This is not the way to cop dome on the playground.

UPDATE: Upon further review this kid probably keeps bitches in line like the US soldiers did in Vietnam, by hold a grenade to their head it ensures incase the bitch is hiding a razor blade in her mouth trying to cut your piece off she’s going to the afterlife with a mouth full of USO meat if there are any indiscretions. Good job buddy, keeping it real since 1998.

But the parade was going on a few blocks from my house the other day, and I felt like I had an obligation to at least check it out and take some pictures.

When I first rolled up, I saw a few fire trucks with firemen as well as other people/Yankee fans perched on top and on the side celebrating with the cranes and construction zone of ground zero in the background, which I thought was pretty cool, and a crazy contrast.

All the paper/ticker tape/toilet paper being thrown from the windows was also eerily reminiscent of 9/11.

COUNTRY IN THE FALL

I got out of the city Saturday morning after 72 hours of birthday celebration to get some fresh air and unwind upstate with some friends and family. Bloody Marys, ATVs, massive amounts of food, good times ensued.

Story time. This is El (with a fat lip). He decided to hit a 15′ mound of dirt full speed on an ATV. The result was lots of blood, the aforementioned fat lip, a broken ATV, and some short term memory loss due to a possible concussion.

The last few days marked the conclusion of the Summer season in the Hamptons. The end of Summer is always dreaded, but it marks a reason to celebrate. And we definitely celebrated.

It was only appropriate we celebrated the weekend where we celebrated basically every weekend this summer, Dune.
